Got the chance to do a cycling shoot with Brent Doscher, a good friend/athlete/owner of Nuvision Action Image (amazing race photography company).

We shot in studio for this one, having him balance a tri-bike precariously on rollers. He took a few major whippers for us, and we’re pretty glad he’s ok!

We scouted around Boston for the perfect spots to take night light trails, and after a few shoots we got some keepers that we later composited into the cycling imagery.

Shot a few backpacking and fishing photos in Smuggler’s Notch, VT.

After this epic day of shooting Ambrotypes from 5:30am to 4pm we re-cooped at the Moab Brewery for some dinner, and set out to explore Canyonlands for the rest of the day. At about 11 we turned back and decided to do one last digital shoot in Moab, and arrived at Balanced Rock at about midnight. Nicole and I set up a strobe and began shooting, knowing in the end that we wanted an image that was more representative of what the place and myself with the headlamp actually looked like, as opposed to what the camera’s limitations allowed it to see. After a few takes, we finally got the image right by blending a long exposure with the lighting from the headlamp and one off camera strobe set out in the desert.

We want to pursue more work in this vein, and are happy with the results. Keep an eye out for more!

We had a conceptual idea awhile back, and knew we just had to make it happen. For months I wanted to create this, but didn’t have the means.

Finally when we travelled cross country to pick up the Mammoth Camera for our Execution project we had the chance. We located a Wild West town in Chandler AZ and secured a cowboy actor, JP, for the shoot. We had quite a number of issues trying to track down the perfect kid for the shoot, going from agency to agency with problems all around. Then finally I asked the PR person, Laurie, from Rawhide if she knew of anyone. Ziggy fell into our laps. The exact, perfect, and awesome kid we had been looking for for weeks (this was 1 day before the shoot). Ziggy and JP were awesome to work with. This was one of the most fun creative shoots we’ve ever done. Our friends/assistants for the shoot Steve Trevathan and Kayte Darling were present for the shoot working lighting as well as doing a bit of filming.

The shoot took place in the harsh Arizona sun, which was perfect for the look and atmosphere we were going for.

Had a great time working with Symphony of Malice! We shot their band promo at an abandoned factory in Milford CT. We used the detritus, smoke, and lighting to illustrate their theme of apocalyptic destruction. Check them out at Symphony of Malice

We had the perfect location to shoot a promo for our good friends Escape Route. So, after 2.5 miles of hiking through mud, leaves, up and down hills and cliffs we got to one of our favorite little spots.

Working with these guys was a blast and we’re super psyched to be shooting their album cover soon for their upcoming Album “Transitions”!
